The MP1100Q Chipset is an industry leading, high performance optical PHY chipset, optimized to support the cost sensitive needs of metro and data center connectivity markets. Utilizing adaptive DSP enhanced direct detection algorithms and leveraging our unique MLSE technology, MultiPhy delivers superior density and reach, enabling low cost pluggable optics at accelerated speeds of 100G and beyond. The MP1100Q chipset includes both MUX/DEMUX functionality, providing a full transceiver solution for our customer base and is widely deployed in both WDM applications as well as point-to-point Data Center applications at the most demanding tier-1 networks.
Our chipset supports spans of up to 40km (+/-800ps/nm), making it the perfect performance upgrade solution for the transition from 10G to 100G and beyond transport. Optical modules utilizing the MP1100Q chipset solution can be realized in the Compact Form-factor, Pluggable (CFP) module format, and meet the challenging cost, power dissipation and performance metrics required to enable the 100G Metro business model.
The DEMUX is a high-speed DSP-based 4x28G CMOS Direct-Detect receiver chip. It incorporates an ultra-high-speed analog-to-digital converter (A/D), the world’s fastest Maximum Likelihood Sequence Estimation (MLSE) DSP, and the DEMUX gearbox function. With its high-performance MLSE DSP engine, the MP1100Q is able to mitigate the chromatic dispersion found in the deployed metro transport networks.
Based on its patent-pending “reduced bandwidth optics with MLSE” technology, the MP1100Q enables module and transceiver manufacturers to realize a 100G metro transport solution that utilizes low cost 10G electro-optics instead of 25G electro-optics, drastically cutting the bill-of-materials (BOM) cost of the module. Complementary to the MLSE DEMUX receiver chip, the CMOS MUX transmitter provides the standard 10 to 4 gearbox function needed for all 100G optical transmission and seamlessly interfaces to 28Gbps and 10Gbps TOSA assemblies.
